Welcome to Central City, KY.
Located in Western Kentucky, midway between Louisville and Nashville, Central City offers access for visitors traveling by way of I-65, I-69, I-24 and a number of toll free parkway connectors. Once you arrive, you will find a friendly community, anxious to show you what makes our city a very special place.
Central City – the city The Everly Brothers call home, the high school that produced world renowned flutist Jim Walker and part of Muhlenberg County – the county that claims the boyhood home of Merle Travis, is known as the home of “Thumbpicking” and made famous by John Prine’s tribute in a song to his father’s hometown of Paradise. All this and much more are celebrated in the Muhlenberg County Music and History Museum located in the Central City Tourism office.
Central City annually plays host to both a June Rods & Ribs Festival and a Labor Day Cruise-In weekend that begins with GospelFest, ends with a rock-n-roll concert and provides plentiful opportunities to check out classic cars in between. Add to that the hunting, fishing and golfing opportunities that abound and you will not run out of things to do. We have over 200 hotel rooms and 20 restaurants and we are more than prepared to show you the hospitality that makes the south famous.
